The aim of this module is to provide you with a core knowledge of the diseases that affect humans and the medicines that are used to treat them. In this module you will start out by learning about the general mechanisms of disease such as infections, immune disorders and tissue growth disorders, such as cancer. Once you are familiar with these basic concepts we will develop your understanding of how disease develops in the different organ systems of the body. Each of the principal body systems will be addressed so that you will have a good understanding of the most common and important diseases that patients present with in today's healthcare environment, and the drug therapies used to treat them.
