This module has been designed to encourage and provide you with an understanding of the fundamental principles of Applied Sport and Exercise psychology. You will explore contemporary approaches of an Applied Sport and Exercise Psychologist. In addition, you will examine the key concepts that underpin Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology. The module will also provide you with a cohesive understanding through exploration of the main approaches and theories within Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology. The module aims to consolidate learning and give you the opportunity to develop practical skills within Applied Sport and exercise Psychology.

This module is led by Casper Farrimond and supported by Dr Rosanna Maletta. It helps you understand how mental health, vulnerability and safeguarding connect in real life situations. Throughout the course you will explore how and why people, both children and adults, may be at risk of abuse, exploitation or neglect, and what effective safeguarding practice involves. You will look at real world cases, key legislation and the ethical decisions professionals make around issues such as consent and mental capacity.

Each week you will build your skills through guided activities that prepare you for your portfolio assessment, helping you develop confidence in recognising risk, responding appropriately and understanding your responsibilities in keeping people safe. This module supports your development as a reflective, informed and employable practitioner.
