Hello all BA Social Work students.
Welcome to the Skills Days moodle site. On this site you will find essential information about your Skills Days: -
1. Dates and days/Skills days titles will be placed on this moodle site next to the relevant Skills Days sections. The Skills Days are numbered and there are 30 for the whole degree (usually 10 a year).
2. Some of these will be delivered face to face and some on Zoom. We will show the mode of delivery relevant to each Skills Day so please check this carefully for each Skills Day. If this is to be delivered face to face, the classroom number and any other essential details will be posted. If there is a Zoom session we will post the Zoom link. for Zoom, please ensure that you log on at the correct time and that your camera is turned on. You will be automatically muted on entry and the host will unmute you as required.
3. Please note Skills Days are often delivered by an outsider speaker/ someone from practise. As you can appreciate, due to the nature of Social Work, and the requirements demanded of Social Work services, we may be required to amend the Skills Days Schedule from time to time. In addition , you may be required to join other students for some of the Skills Days. We will inform you about this.
4. Attendance to ALL Skills Days is compulsory and is required by Social Work England in order to complete successful Registration as a Social Worker at the end of your degree. It is also required by the University in order for you to pass the course. Please note we are required to keep a register of attendance.
5. Please ensure that you check this SKILLS DAYS MOODLE SITE at least once a week as we update this regularly. Details of Skills Days (time/venue/ date) and reading/resources will be posted on here for each Skills Day throughout the academic year, but do check for any changes to the schedule.
Enjoy.

This module provides an opportunity for the student to undertake a substantial piece of independent inquiry at master's level in an area of Social Work of their choice. The intention is to allow a thorough analysis and synthesis of theory and practice in order to generate new understandings and new knowledge in relation to Social Work. This piece of work will require either the empirical collection of data or an extended literature review dissertation. There will be individual supervisions, with a named supervisor throughout this process.
This module has been validated by Social work England and as such forms part of the Professional requirements for Social Work in England.
