The Pursuing Literacy and Numeracy module is designed to give you an interesting and useful insight into the teaching and learning of literacy and numeracy and reflect on your own experiences. The module is designed to allow you to explore the development of literacy and numeracy as a school subject and examine current aims for the curriculum. You will gain an understanding of different teaching and learning practices, investigate differential achievement in literacy and numeracy and evaluate strategies for improvement.

In this module, you will be introduced to the critical analysis, evaluation and application of psychology in an educational context. This will be done through an examination of some of the key concepts, theories and approaches which are characteristic of the field. This approach allow you to draw on the discipline of psychology in order to investigate practices and issues in contemporary education. The module also addresses internationalisation through an exploration of the work of global educational psychologists.
