Understanding the principles and practices of managing people in the context of external factors is a key to organisational performance. This module will provide sound knowledge of different aspects of People Management concerned with impact on performance. You will learn about a variety of key activities including resourcing, planning, training and development and managing the employment relationship with a focus on increasing performance. The role of performance measurement and management will also provide a key focus from recruitment to termination of employees. The game attributes for this module are: Adaptable and Self Aware

BMP4001-23-UOB-B Professional and Academic Skills Development

This module introduces you to business management study, enabling you to understand, develop, apply and reflect on essential professional and study skills required for success. This includes planning and organisation, research and writing, presentations, time management, reflective practice in order to develop action plans and other practical skills which will help you to improve your success in business study and professional practice. The module encourages you to reflect on your existing skills and experiences to help you strengthen your study and learning skills and explore strategies for lifelong learning, as part of your personal development planning. This module also focuses on your research and academic writing skills, preparing you for further study at HE5.

This module will provide students with a sound understanding of key concepts in academic writing and help to develop the practical skills necessary for successful study in Higher Education. Students will look at finding, understanding and using appropriate academic resources. They will then focus on how to incorporate ideas from reading into essays and reports using quotations, paraphrases and references. Other areas covered by the module are conventions of academic style and register, presenting ideas clearly and coherently in oral and written assessments, and planning/proofreading/presenting work for submission.
