This module will focus on leadership and management strategies. It will also equip students with the required skills to identify, manage and coordinate quality improvement strategies. The module will highlight the role of the midwife in escalating concerns and addressing serious adverse events to improve maternity services and ensure a sustainable health care system. The above will be addressed in light of effective teamwork strategies and self-development. In addition, students will be encouraged to develop their academic skills further by engaging in synthesis of evidence and undertaking a review of the available literature. A strong element of preparation for the challenging period of transition to qualified practitioner runs through this module with a focus on strength based approaches, human factors and preparing to be supervisors of students.
