This module continues to develop students as contemporary autonomous and scholarly practitioners that act to promote human rights, values-based care, inclusivity, cultural competence, and partnership working. It covers the role of the midwife when advocating for vulnerable individuals and their families . The need to have respectful relationships with the multi-disciplinary teams is further examined in order to provide safe care. The module will start to encourage students and build their confidence to challenge poor practice and discriminatory behaviours by escalating concerns while still looking after their personal wellbeing. The importance of safeguarding is examined whilst analysing the challenges faced when caring for women who face difficulties in accessing maternity care. Academic skills are further enhanced as learners will appraise and analyse data and research.
