
This module introduces both constitutional and administrative law of the United Kingdom and its contemporary applicability. It examines the sources, main features and principles of UK constitutional law: ‘unwritten’ constitution, Parliamentary sovereignty, etc. It considers the executive, legislative and judicial institutions of the United Kingdom, the interaction between these institutions, and examines the legislative process in order to gain a cohesive understanding of law. It examines judicial review of administrative action and the protection of human rights in the UK via the European Convention on Human Rights and the Human Rights Act 1998 in order to help students consolidate their learning.
