WELCOME TO ODP6003- Advancing Skills in Critical Care 

Sept 23.

This module has been developed in line with HCPC Standards of Proficiency for ODP (2023) and will inspire you to explore the current trends and future developments of the ODP profession, utilising key transferable knowledge, skills and behaviours acquired throughout your programme of study so far.

You will focus on a more holistic approach to the care of a critically ill patient including key topics such as care of the ventilated patient, stabilisation and transfer of the critically ill patient and enhanced pharmacology.

Deliverance of the module will be supported by clinical experts in the field, simulation based education and consolidated wherever possible in practice learning environments.

Fundamental aspects of critical illness will be covered as well as the importance of effective inter-professional communication and handover for safe care prioritisation and delivery. In addition to this, you have enhanced care competencies in your third year PARE skills log. 

This module is aligned to the National Competency Framework for Registered Practitioners: Level 1 Patients and Enhanced Care Areas.
