This module enables you to bring together the knowledge and skills acquired from the taught MSc modules to investigate a selected topic through a critical literature review and analysis in a relevant engineering subject. The project is designed to enable you to demonstrate your capabilities to perform independent but guided research to solve practical problems with theoretical and analytical knowledge. The overall purpose of the module is to develop your understanding of the steps involved in planning and conducting a research project and in communicating the findings both orally and in writing. This module teaches and assesses M2, M4, M5, M7, M17 and develops M1, M3 of the AHEP4 for CEng.

This module introduces students to the fundamentals of psychoeducation, focusing on the design and delivery of effective psychoeducational sessions and equips students with foundational skills in designing, delivering, and ethically evaluating psychoeducational interventions. The practical experience and critical reflection gained will directly support the development of a robust dissertation project involving an action research study of a psychoeducational intervention. Students will explore the role of communication, facilitation, and empathy in creating engaging learning experiences. The module also provides an introduction to the use of immersive technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), in psychoeducation. Through practical sessions, students will develop skills in evaluating and reflecting on psychoeducational practices, considering ethical implications.

This module provides a cohesive and contemporary approach to explore a multitude of practice across different professions relating to Mental Health and Wellbeing. You will review and critically analyse how to facilitate wellbeing in alignment with a variety of Mental Health support networks and interventions. You will explore differing Mental Health measures, assessments and interventions will be applied appropriately to real world examples. A myriad of Mental Health tools will be provided to consolidate practice and demonstrate how this informs research. Transferable skills will be developed throughout the assessments in the form of communication skills, group work, leadership and critical application.
